World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.

The 27-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of Dominance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 match record, and earned a historic £11m in earnings.

She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".

Additional WTA Award Winners

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking a 13-month break after the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after starting the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after winning their second Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third time.
