Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the untimely passing of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

The Alarm

According to a report quoting a confidential source, a therapist arriving for an session initially became concerned after failing to get inside the house. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

When she went into the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held and is ineligible for bail.

The anonymous source questioned several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

Furthermore refuted published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction applies to reports of alleged "unstable" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.

As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the residence. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
