Barcelona to Host Inaugural Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou over the weekend
The club confirmed they are set to host at the still-under-construction Camp Nou this Saturday. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in La Liga over two years after they moved out for construction to commence.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. Once fully finished, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, a rise from the old capacity. Barça announced finished work included a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized a public practice at the Camp Nou earlier this month. Officials stated approval is being pursued by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side next month at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio OlĂmpic LluĂs Companys.
