Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
